STAT 2480 - Elementary Statistical Methods
An elementary introduction to probability, common probability, distributions such as the binomial and Gaussian distributions, exploratory analysis of data, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, contingency table analysis and chi-square goodness-of-fit, simple linear regression, one-way ANOVA, and Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons. A statistical software package will be used for analysis of data and simulations to illustrate concepts. Prerequisites: MATH 1320 or MATH 1508 or MATH 1411 or TCCN 1314 or an equivalent course, with a grade of "C" or better.
