SPAN 2340 - Seeing & Naming: Conversations |
This course explores issues of social and cultural identity
that have been crucial to the development and understanding
of Latin American cultures. The key theoretical problem to
be addressed in all the course units is how knowledge about
Latin American culture(s) is constructed, transmitted, and
transformed in different historical moments and cultural
contexts. While the course is mostly organized
chronologically, it also considers themes synchronically,
to better understand how they constitute on-going dialogues
and debates at different points in time.
